Fellowship Groups & Events

We are committed to live as family with each other in disagreement and agreement, in sorrow and joy. Part of this mission is building our relationships with each other through fun events and activities.

Keenagers is a group of seniors (age 55+) who meet monthly for fellowship, education, and inspiration. The group gathers frequently for potlucks or restaurant lunches and for special programs on a variety of topics. In addition, Keenagers organize the Annual Craft and Bake Sale in autumn. One hundred percent of the money raised through the Craft and Bake Sale is given away to various charities.

Keenagers events are publicized in the weekly Pinch of Salt and monthly Salt Shaker newsletter. Questions may be directed to any member of the Board of Directors (click name to send email):

 St. Andrew’s Sisters (SAS)

Adult women are invited to a variety of monthly events which have included restaurant dinners, movie night, bunco, and a Christmas party.  In addition to the monthly events, an annual weekend retreat takes place in Carlsbad, which provides the ability to participate without having to stay overnight.  More information is provided in the weekly Pinch of Salt, monthly Salt Shaker, and their Facebook page here

Crafters Group

One afternoon a month a group gathers to work on projects for the annual Keenagers Craft and Bake Sale. participants are encouraged to bring their own projects or assist another crafter in his or her projects. If you need an idea for a craft, this group will be more than happy to help! Contact Kim Stabley for additional information and details.

High School and Middle School Youth

High School students are invited to participate in SALT (St. Andrew’s Lutheran Teens) on Sunday evenings.  SALT events include Bible Study and games, with the occasional Laser Tag, movie night, bowling, and more.  High School students are also invited to participate in summer trips.  Each year a group visits Miracle Ranch Children’s Home in Valle de Las Palmas (near Tecate) Mexico to work at the ranch, play with the children, and help Cesar and Cheryl Uribe care for the children.  A second trip to a national youth gathering, regional youth gathering, or other servant destination takes place each year.  Fundraising events throughout the year help to offset the cost of both of these trips.  In 2018 the youth will travel to a national gathering  in Houston, Texas.  these summer trips have the potential to be life-changing for both the youth and their adult sponsors.

Middle school youth meet every week during the school year for confirmation class.  This instruction prepares them to renew their Baptism and become full members of the church, builds relationships with caring adult and high school leaders, and helps the youth become more confident in their faith and lives.  Each November a Middle School Youth Gathering takes place the weekend before Thanksgiving. This event includes speakers, worship, service, and fun!

Volunteer Appreciation Reception

The week after Thanksgiving the church staff and council host a reception for all those who have volunteered their time and talent to St. Andrew’s.  Anyone who has volunteered in any capacity including maintenance, worship volunteers, kitchen help, youth sponsors, office assistance, and too many other areas to list, are invited to a reception over the lunch hour or over the dinner hour where the staff and council members serve finger food, cookies, coffee and punch, and eggnog.  It is an opportunity for the staff and elected leadership to say “thank you” to the many volunteers who make our ministries successful.  Keep an eye on the Pinch of Salt and November Salt Shaker newsletter for details.

Family Christmas Festival

Family Christmas Festival is our annual Christmas Tree Decorating party.  We gather in the Community Center on the first Sunday evening in December for an appetizer & cookie potluck. We sing carols, make crafts, and decorate the 12-Foot tree. Joyful Noise Children’s Choir sings a variety of fun Christmas songs, and other musicians provide entertainment.  The annual rendition of The Twelve Days of Christmas is much anticipated by many, especially the youth.

Congregation Picnic

Once a year St. Andrew’s hosts a picnic at a local park or on the church grounds. The picnic includes a barbeque, children’s games, and lots of fun. Church provides meat for the barbeques, participants bring a side dish to share and their own chairs and blankets.  You might be surprised by some impromptu music, or a pick-up baseball game! All are welcome at this fun event.

Thanksgiving Pie Social

This favorite event occurs the night before Thanksgiving. The community gathers to worship at 7:00 and stays afterwards to eat pie and visit with their church family!  Each family brings a pie to share, and leaves the event full and satisfied.
