Youth Activities & Education

Activities for the youngest children:

Our goal at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Preschool is to provide a safe and supportive environment where each child can feel secure and thrive. We also strive to create an environment where you, the parent, will feel comfortable and confident about leaving your child in our care. While our main focus is on your child’s social and emotional growth, we also know children are developing in cognitive and physical skills. Along with these skills we want each child to learn of God’s love for him/her, and have a chance to explore God’s wonderful world.

Program Hours : Tuesday/ Thursday, 9am-12pm; Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 9am-12pm; Monday-Friday, 9am-2pm.

Sunday School (9:30 AM)

From Mid-September through Mid June, Children in grades 1-5 gather during the 9:30 worship service for songs, crafts, and stories. Children may attend the beginning of the 9:30 worship service with their families, then go upstairs for Children’s Church immediately following communion. Children in preschool and kindergarten meet in the preschool area for age-appropriate lessons. During the summer months, elementary aged children gather in one large group. Preschool and kindergarten are welcome to join the older group or stay in the childcare area. Of course, all children of any age are welcome to stay in the worship service!

Children are invited to participate in the annual Christmas Program and annual Easter Pageant. Rehearsals for these two seasonal programs take place during the Children’s Church time.

Members of the Steering Team for Sunday School are Christine Dobbins, Katie Kozlik, and Teri Potts

Child Care

Free childcare is available whenever events are held at St. Andrew’s. This includes Sunday worship and Children’s Church, Wednesday Intergenerational Night, midweek worship services, evening Bible studies and meetings, and other events as needed. If you are not certain if childcare is offered at a particular event or meeting, please call the church office at (619) 464-4211. Our preschool area is used for childcare. We can accommodate children from infancy through elementary age. We encourage those age 3 and older to attend Children’s Church , although it is not mandatory.
